History of Purple Rain
The Purple Rain is a twist on the Blue Lagoon cocktail. The Blue Lagoon cocktail predates the 1980s movie with the same name. Bartender Andy Maclhone created the cocktail in Harry's New York Bar in Paris in the 1960s. The vodka provides a sturdy base balanced with the sweetness of Blue Curaçao and citrus from fresh lime juice. The lemonade strengthens the drink and makes it very easy to drinkable.
The Purple Rain name came from Pop Legend Prince's inspiration, and the purple rain looks to the drink when you add the Grenadine. Making it both purple and a rain life effect as the syrup and fizz mix.
