History of Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon cocktail predates the 1980s movie with the same name. Bartender Andy Maclhone created the cocktail in Harry's New York Bar in Paris in the 1960s. The vodka provides a sturdy base balanced with the sweetness of Blue Curaçao and citrus from fresh lime juice. The lemonade strengthens the drink and makes it very easy to drinkable. 

However, this classic retro drink is having a huge comeback. When we asked our Pour'd email list their favourite cocktail, this was one of the most popular cocktails chosen. Likewise, the Purple Rain cocktail is similar to the Blue Lagoon but adds Grenadine to make it more purple.
